The "X" crosses at its namesake city of Monon, Indiana. On the 1st day of March, 1899, an act was passed by the legislature authorizing the Manchester Street Railway to extend and construct its railway to Goffstown Village. The highway was opened for traffic on March 29, 1938 using the old Card Sound and south Big Pine Key routes.
