Enemy of The Month

This month we think it is only fitting to have our Enemy of The Month be none other then the BCS system.  The BCS has failed us yet again this year.  Any system that can potentially have three undefeated teams at the end of the year doesn’t seem to exude efficiency.  Now I know there are some authors here at Thunder Treats who are fans of the current system and think it works best because every game matters.  Well chew on this, if every game matters so much then how can you go undefeated and not be a National Champion? If the games mattered that much and you win all your games shouldn’t you at least be playing for the National Championship?  Shouldn’t you at least get the chance to contend for a National Championship?  These teams are being pushed to the side just because they aren’t part of the Big Six conferences of the BCS, which as of late has looked more like a Big Four.  All of our lives while playing sports you are taught that if you win every game you are the best, first place, gold medal, numero uno and now it saddens me to say that there is one exception to this rule…The BCS system or as I refer to it the “Bullshit Computer System”.

Just becuase you win all your games doenst make you the best, grant you first place, or award you the gold medal. I was always taught "to be the best you have to beat the best". Right now that is Alabama (in my eyes). TCU doesnt get a chance to play in the National Championship and there undefeated. But isnt that there own fault? when they play temas like Texas State and SMU you cant tell me those are the good teams and they shouldnt play a tougher team for a Non Confrence game especialy when your Conference is not very strong to begin with???

I agree with the statement "To be the best, you have to beat the best" but what if you don't get the chance to "beat the best"? TCU could have played the strongest non-conference schedule in America and you and I both know they wouldn't have gotten in over Texas and Alabama. Don't blame a weak non-conference schedule either, that may be the most overrated argument there is.

Alabama non-conference = Chattanooga, FIU, North Texas and VT
Texas non-conference = Louisiana Monroe, Wyoming, UCF, and UTEP

Not exactly what I would call "strong" either.

This is an example of corporate, greedy America. The ONLY thing holding back a playoff is money... it's sad that we have no choice, by we I mean the main lifeline to the sport us fans, but to support big companies who sponsor these games. In any other sport, there is no argument when a team wins by means of a playoff tree. What the hell are we doing?!! There are so many unique ideas and very logical ways to do it. It's a disgrace to the players who work hard in school and on the field for something that no matter what they do, is unachievable. DOWN WITH THE BULLSHIT COMPUTER SYSTEM! After all author, Ohio State wouldn't have made the playoff if there was one, I assume you're ok with that?
Ohio State wouldn't be in the playoff? Are you crazy?

Please explain to me how the out right champion of the Big Ten doesn't get into a playoff bracket? Cause no expansion of the current playoff system we have will be indtroduced or approved that wouldn't include all champions of all conferences. No way it gets approved by the commissioners of all 11 conferences and independents without guarantees that their champions would receive auto bids.

I agree with you that Alabama and Texas both didnt play very Tough Non-Coinfrence Scheduels however look at there Confrence games. TCU should do everything in its powers even if they have to pay some big money, knowing that they dont play in a strong confrence to play some better Teams. This isnt a suprise to anyone, we all know that if a team like Cinci or TCU goes undefeated they arent going to play in the championship game unless they play some "Stronger" Teams. So TCU knowing this should spend the money or do what it can to play better teams.

So we have a playoff bracket and they take the top 12 teams the same situation will come up, you look at teams sitting in 13th and 14th they have just as good of a record as the teams in 11th and 12th, how do you decied who gets in and who doesnt?? A playoff would not solve the problem.
